Pacquiao vs Margarito Match Will Be Exciting

Pacquiao vs Margarito

Instead of having a rematch with Puerto Rican Miguel Cotto for his middleweight title, Manny Pacquiao chooses Mexican Antonio Margarito for November 13 bout. Pacquiao said “That’s good!” when asked about his possible clash with the former World Boxing Association (WBA), International Boxing Federation (IBF) and World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight champion Margarito. Pacquiao also told a reporter from the Philippines that he is willing to fight Margarito around 147-150 pounds. In fact Antonio Margarito has agreed to meet Manny Pacquiao at the catch weight of 150 lbs, or 4 lbs below the 154 limit. This is the advantage of having two fighters under one promoter. Manny Pacquiao and Antonio Margarito will face each Justify Fullother for the vacant WBC light middleweight title. While his November 13 bout has not yet been finalized, Pacquiao is certain that he will train in Manila and will go to Freddie Roach’s Wild Card Gym in Los Angeles, California 3 weeks before the fight. For the meantime Margarito’s camp are trying to get his new licensed to fight again in the US. Margarito was suspended when he was caught using, without his knowledge as he claims, illegal hand wraps, leading to the suspension of his fight license in the United States prior to his bout against Shane Mosley on January 2009.

Even the four-time Trainer of the Year recipient also downplayed the Mexican’s ability to fire a good punch. Freddie Roach said that Margarito has a good chin, but a good punch? He doesn't know. He added, “Let him wrap his own hands, and he’s got a good punch (laughs).” Pacquiao earlier said he is very much willing to face Margarito, despite the Mexican champ’s height advantage. Margarito is a big welterweight with a chin like a fire hydrant. It would be a serious challenge for Pacquiao, much more difficult of a fight than the DeLa Hoya fight. I would think Margarito would be the heavy favorite, but then again I thought DeLa Hoya would pose problems for Manny, and I was dead wrong. Pacquiao destroy DeLa Hoya with an ease that was terrifying. I think Manny Pacquiao is ready for a real welterweight, but I think it had better be someone other than Margarito. As for Pacquiao, I think that Pacquiao would take early rounds with his speed and proven ability to get inside bigger men with footwork and head movement. Margarito, who stands 5-foot-11, enjoys a 6-inch reach advantage over the 5-foot-6 Filipino boxer. I haven't seen Margarito actual fights but If he's that good then I don't think Pacquiao will back down a fight against a bigger and taller Margarito. Pacquiao is the kind of fighter who likes to fight stronger opponents. The one thing you know for sure with Pacquiao vs Margarito fight is that it will be a hell of a fight for however long it lasts.
